Active Shooter Training: Why should I be prepared?
Active shooter incidents are unpredictable, and they can evolve rapidly. During the chaos, anyone involved can play a vital role in lessening the impact of an active shooter incident. Recent active shooter emergencies have revealed the importance of a rapid and clear-headed response. Every second counts when active violence occurs and active shooter training with AVIRT teaches you the skills and tools to quickly react, evaluate options, make decisions, and potentially save lives. Active shooter awareness is a key training tool. Incidents can happen anywhere at any time. Being able to react quickly to life-threatening situations is critical in any environment, whether at school, in the office, or in public spaces. With AVIRT, you will learn situational awareness and how to adopt an active shooter response plan so you can take fast action in the event of an emergency.
Active Violence Immediate Response Training (AVIRT), gives knowledge & confidence to escape, evade or attack during an active violence incident.
AVIRT teaches the general public how to respond in the case of active violence. The possibility of shootings and intentional violence in organizational contexts is increasing. For that reason, AVIRT (Active Violence Immediate Response Training) is essential for all organizations: schools, college campuses, businesses, churches, and health care facilities to name a few. If you are not part of group but still want to learn consider one of our regularly scheduled classes at our site.
AVIRT goes far beyond standard lockdown protocols in the case of active violence. Our training focuses on skills once reserved for first responders, now adapted for the public. Being informed and prepared for an active shooter or other violent situations is crucial. Empower yourself and others to respond effectively when violence occurs to save lives. AVIRT is an active shooter training course that also enables you to become an immediate responder by learning emergency techniques.

From lower down on this website page you'll be able to pay for the online class when you do. You'll fill out a small form and you'll be sent back a class link for your order once you click that link you begin learning immediately. This is a non-certification class with no skills practice done in the comfort of your own home or office.
Completion time is approximately 1 hour

You can sign up for a group class of between 4 and 15 people (if more we make another class on the same day if possible).
The format can be Blended (1 hour of online class then, 90 minutes skills practice) or Classroom (we present the information then do skills practice all in 3 hours)
We can come to your location (within 15 miles of downtown Minneapolis) and if the classroom meets our basic requirements for seating, electricity, and space to do skills practice.
If you don't have a location that makes those requirements. We can also schedule you at one of our learning locations around the Twin Cities as a classroom (no available as a Blended)

Knifes Add on Course to ADVIRT Response Training
WHAT IS THE KNIFES COURSE
Meant to help you better understand the distinct differences in approach by knife attackers, and how to defend yourself against a knife attack. It also provide you with basic first aid information that is unique to penetrating knife, wounds or slashing wounds. Designed and built to build on ADVIRT training, it uses similar verbiage and themes to have a coherent message.
WHY ADD THIS TO YOUR ADVIRT TRAINING
Knives are more easily able to be concealed, and there are significantly fewer laws regarding carrying them or having them in your home or workplace. Many other countries in the world that have significantly stricter gun laws than the United States have a very high rate of knife violence. This additional add-on training is meant to help prepare you for the unique defensive strategies and medical aid related to knife attacks and some of the specific things you can look for when an attacker may be looking to target you or others.

CLASS DETAILS
**This is conducted after the after the AVIRT Training with the same basic requirements. This class is a shorter knifes focused add on to the AVIRT Training.

Appropriate Ages: 14+ (same as AVIRT)
Physical Requirements: Training is provided to each person’s ability.
Requirements for Onsite Class:
Group Class space must have desk/table for every person in the class.
A screen, Projector, or TV with HDMI ports to plug presentation materals
Bathrooms
(signage will be posted outside the classroom to alert others that the sound of simulated gunfire, simulated weapons use maybe heard or in view).

Weapons Policy Notice:
It is the policy of HSI and this instructor that absolutely no weapons can be brought into the training classroom. Weapons include (but is not limited to) firearms with license or permit and those carried by US military personnel, law-enforcement, including federal officers is not allowed in the classroom. Pocket knives, mace or mace guns, tasers, bright lights or sound equipment as well no not allowed. These items must be stored outside of the classroom in a secure location, like a vehicle or not brought with you at all. If any of these objects are found on you or in your possessions during a class, you will be asked to leave immediately. You will not receive credit for the class nor a refund. This is for the safety of all those who are participating in the class as you will be interacting with each other at a physical level and objects in the room will be moved at the discretion of the instructor or students at any time. This is simply a mandatory safety precaution.
