SWEDISH MASSAGE (Relaxation Therapy)

The world-wide spa standard using long, powerful strokes aimed mainly towards the heart to increase blood flow and lymphatic efficacy. It also incorporates coached breathing with hand, wrist, and forearm strokes for relaxation and stress relief.

*SPORTS MASSAGE*

This is my specialty, with training and experience to help athletes of all ages and abilities, increase their performance and endurance.  The key to sports massage is understanding injury treatment. Sports massage reduces tight muscle and major joint strain. It also aids in balance, increasing athletic performance. I have extensive experience working with personal trainers and sports teams to help athletes increase performance and reduce injury. Another key component of sports massage is scar tissue remediation, which treats past internal scaring which affects performance.  **Want an even more effective treatment? Try Sports Massage in combination with vacuum or cupping therapy you will not be sorry!

MYOFASCIAL RELEASE

This treatment is extremely effective for many individuals with fibromyalgia or rotator cuff issues.  Similar to trigger point, it treats connective tissue called fascia.  Focusing on specific areas of the body, it helps easily release emotional and physical stress points in arms, legs, back, and shoulders.  Often incorporated into Swedish massage and viewed as a light stretching.  However, a very traditional version of this massage is through a point by point basis. Connective tissue therapy is very important to those who are active and is one of the first things I look at to reduce pain and increase performance.

A most intimate and beautiful form of massage therapy.  Prenatal massage allows mother and child to effectively face pregnancy’s physical changes.  It also allows emotional bonding between the two, in a tranquil, soothing environment.  I have received expert training and over multiple certification years to provide a safe and peaceful massage experience to expectant mothers.  Partners are also invited (at the mother’s request) to learn massage, stretching, and relaxation techniques to help the family enjoy this important time. More information is upon request.

MEDITATIVE MASSAGE (Relaxation Therapy)

Incorporating elements of guided meditation during the bodywork it is designed to help those who need assistance relaxing the mind at the same time they wish to relax the body. Throughout the bodywork you will be prompted to breathe deeply and focus your attention in a calming fashion. No matter what kind of stress may have brought you in, this can help you get it out. This service is available upon request at the time of service.

ONCOLOGY BODYWORK

Oncology massage is a general term used for those who are dealing with a cancer diagnosis. Oncology massage is one of the most controversial topics in the massage industry and in healthcare in general. The general goal of oncology massage is to provide a means to relax by soothing and encourage the natural healing process of the body. Each cancer has its own particular challenges and practitioners should be trained on all of those contingencies. It is recommended that you speak to a physician before having massage work if you're undergoing cancer treatment or in remission of any lymphatic cancer's. In general if you're receiving radiation or chemotherapy treatment it's recommended that you wait a minimum of 24 hours before receiving massage work. Please contact me in advance of the sessions so that it can be properly timed and tailored to your needs. Every person that gets on the table for oncology massage will always be treated as a person and not as a person with cancer, it is a time for you to relax and heal not to be poked prodded and questioned but to simply be.

CRANIAL SACRAL THERAPY

This is the manipulation of your cerebral spinal fluid, releasing nerve pain and muscle strain along the spinal column.  Cranial Sacral is most effective in younger clients whose bones are still developing, but can also help mature clients. This method is often used to relieve migraine headaches and severe low back pain. This massage involves light touch and stationary holding of the low back, neck or shoulders.

DEEP TISSUE

Deep tissue is one of the most misunderstood terms in the massage therapy world among the general public. This technique is more than just applying extra pressure to a standard massage. Classic deep tissue massage is achieved by embracing the principle of a moving surface tissue and muscle to reach the deepest tissues closest to the bones in the body. This does have a very important therapeutic value. Classic deep tissue is usually done in a full body in no less than 90 minutes and no more than 90 minutes because the work is extremely slow and methodical as a practitioner must wait for the surface tissue to move so that they can begin work on the deepest tissue which they are targeting.

*As a special note - There are very few people that can actually endure sustained heavy pressure against their body and actually release tissue. When most people get deeper pressure it causes their bodies to stiffen to fight against the therapist during the session. This fighting is counter productive and will do more harm for the therapist and have no positive impact for the client. For all those reasons there is a limit to how much pressure I will provide someone during any massage service and when I feel the tissue fighting against me I will simply back off to a more agreeable pressure that their body better response to.

REFLEXOLOGY

Reflexology involves holding key points on the hands, feet, or ears to provide pain relief.  May help in counteracting intestinal issues.  While not recommended for anyone with a sensitivity to bruising, it can be an extremely relaxing experience in itself.

MEDI-CUPPING THERAPY (also called D.M.T.)

Cupping therapy has been around in one form or another since Egyptian times as a method of detoxification and tissue healing. Using gentle suction on several areas of the body it can help with a range of health ailments. With modern technology vacuum cupping therapy is just the latest version of this treatment. Unlike the traditional method of cupping therapy MediCupping therapy uses only two applicator cups at a time. Come try the best cupping experience in Minneapolis!

  • Detox your shallow and deep tissues including stagnate blood and lymphatic fluid.
  • Allows release of shallow and deep scare tissue including around joints reducing pain and increasing range of motion.
  • Removes painful sharp aches and dull pains caused by soft tissue knots and muscles that are stuck together (see above videos).
  • Releases pressure on I.T. bands for those active athletes without the pain of using a foam roller.
  • A relaxing alternative to deep tissue massage without pain associated with the increased pressure.
  • Release toxins and chemicals from lung tissue due to cigarette smoking / smoke inhalation (similar to a nebulizer).
  • This therapy (depending on your need) can work up to 6X faster then manual massage therapy.
  • and much more!

Who should not have this therapy?

Out of a abundance of caution I do not provide this treatment for those who are:

  • pregnant (in some areas)
  • using blood thinners
  • areas around implanted medical devices or tubes
  • prone to thin skin
  • undergoing cancer treatments (unless cleared by a doctor in writing)

Doesn't "Cupping" leave marks?

Depending on the needed amount of suction some discoloration may happen. For many people this discoloration will return to normal in a few days. In rare cases some marks may last several months when the tissue disfunction is extreme.

CUPPING THERAPY

Cupping therapy has been around in one form or another since Egyptian times as a method of detoxification and tissue healing. Using gentle suction on several areas of the body it can help with a range of health ailments. Unlike Vacuum Cupping Therapy this treatment, cups are kept in one place for deeper penetration of the tissues.

Doesn't "Cupping" leave marks?

Yes, the treatment works on the idea of light suction which will draw blood and toxins closer to the surface of the skin. This will cause discoloration and it can last anytime from a few minutes to several weeks.
